Traveling to Northwaters
Our island base camps are located roughly 250 miles north of Toronto, Ontario and 200 miles west of Ottawa, Ontario in the heart of the Temagami Wilderness. Despite our remote location, getting your child to canoe camp is really very simple. Transportation between Temagami and base camp is included in the program tuition. You may meet us in the village of Temagami, or charter a bus with our guides from Toronto or Ottawa. For ease of travel, all American and International students should obtain a passport well in advance of the program.
Meeting us in Toronto, Ontario:
Many U.S. and international campers fly into Toronto's Pearson International Airport. Canadian camp participants in the GTA can meet our staff at Pearson as well. Participants arriving by plane will first pass through customs and then exit through a gate where our canoe camp guides will be waiting. For those arriving by car, a camp representative will be greeting participants INSIDE the international area on the arrivals level of terminal #3. All campers should arrive before 12:00noon on the first day of the program. Once we have rendezvoused with participants arriving by both plane and car, we board our charter bus for the 5 hour trip north to Temagami. Bus fare from Toronto is an additional $150 round trip, lunch will be provided.
Meeting us in Ottawa, Ontario:
Ottawa is a convenient pick-up location for campers traveling from Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the Northeastern U.S. Our canoe camp guides meet participants at the Catherine Street bus station by 11:00am on the first day of each program and travel together to base camp in our camp van. Transportation from Ottawa is an additional $150 round trip, lunch will be provided.
Meeting us in Temagami, Ontario:
The nearest drop off point to our canoe camp is the village of Temagami. Our guides meet families in town by 6:00pm on the first day of each camp program. Once we have rendezvoused with participants arriving by charter from Toronto and Ottawa we travel 20 minutes by boat to Northwaters.
End of session:
On the last day of each canoe camp program, we transport participants back to the same locations in Toronto or Ottawa for flights & pick-ups after 3:00pm. For those families meeting their children in Temagami, we rendezvous with parents around 8:00am at the boat landing.
